Pride Beyond June: Uplifting LGBTQ+ Voices in Mental Health
As Pride Month comes to an end, we reflect on the beauty of living authentically—and the continued work needed to ensure affirming, inclusive spaces year-round.
At Bridging the Gap Therapy Services, our support of the LGBTQIA+ community doesn’t end on June 30th. We remain committed every day to advocacy, visibility, and culturally competent care. Mental health is not one-size-fits-all, and affirming care can be life-changing—and life-saving.

Why LGBTQ+ Mental Health Matters
LGBTQ+ individuals are more likely to experience:
Anxiety, depression, and PTSD
Suicidal ideation or self-harm
Discrimination in healthcare, housing, employment, and more
Family rejection and social isolation
These are not inherent to being LGBTQ+—they are responses to a world that still marginalizes, misunderstands, or excludes queer and trans identities.
Creating Affirming Therapy Spaces
On an annual basis, our team engages in professional development through an LGBTQIA+ cultural competency training. We are continually learning how to provide care and a space for our team that is:

Free of bias, shame, or assumptions
Empowering for clients navigating coming out, gender identity, faith integration, trauma, or family conflict
